Our new survey is specifically for local businesses, giving you the opportunity to tell us what matters most to you. Note this is separate from the Pride and place community survey.
We want to understand:
- What you think is working well in Hamilton.
- The challenges your business is facing.
- What you would like to see prioritised in the future.
- Your views on the town centre and how it can be supported and improved.

2. HANDS UP FOR HAMILTON – SATURDAY 3RD OCTOBER
We’re delighted to announce ‘Hands Up for Hamilton’ event, taking place in the Regent Centre on Saturday 3rd October, from 10am–4pm.
The event will feature the return of Hamilton Market, alongside:
- Free face painting
- Music and entertainment
- Interactive activities
The event is held in support the wider Pride in Place consultation, giving local people an opportunity to have their say on the future of Hamilton. Hamilton Our Town is represented on the Pride in Place Board, helping to bring town centre business perspectives into the wider conversation. 3. FESTIVE PROGRAMME 2026 – GET INVOLVED!
We can confirm that this year’s Hamilton Christmas Light Switch On will take place on Saturday 21st November on Quarry Street.
We also understand that the fairground intends to operate on Townhead Street on the day, adding to the festive atmosphere across the town centre.
We are currently developing our wider festive programme, with plans shaping up to include collaboration with local partners and organisations to support delivery.
We want local businesses and organisations to get involved!
Opportunities include:
- Taking a FREE market stall at one of our events.
- Linking your own events, offers or promotions with our festive activity.
- Exploring sponsorship and promotional opportunities.
- Working with us to develop additional activities across the town centre.

4. TOWN CENTRE FOOTFALL – POSITIVE SIGNS FOR HAMILTON
We’re pleased to share some encouraging results from our latest estimated town centre footfall data.
July footfall increased by 2.9% compared with July 2025, while estimated year-to-date footfall is also slightly ahead of last year, up 0.2%.
There are further positive signs in how people are using the town centre:
- Dwell time is up 13% year on year, indicating that visitors are spending longer in the town centre.
- Evening footfall is up 3% compared with last year.
While we recognise the ongoing challenges facing town centre businesses, these figures provide some encouraging indicators as we continue working to attract visitors and support activity.
