Hamilton town centre came alive this weekend as we celebrated International Women’s Day with a vibrant community event delivered in partnership with HIPY (Hamilton International Project for Youth).
Held in the Regent Centre, the day brought together local families, performers, community organisations and businesses for a lively celebration focused on community, creativity and inclusion. Throughout the day there was a fantastic atmosphere, with strong levels of public engagement and a steady flow of visitors enjoying the wide range of free activities on offer.
Visitors were able to enjoy Hamilton Market, explore stalls from local traders and take part in a variety of free family-friendly activities, including face painting, glitter tattoos and kids’ crafts. The entertainment programme was another highlight, featuring performances from The Taylor Swift Effect, An ABBA Dream, and Hamilton Rock Choir, all of which helped create a real sense of occasion in the town centre.
Events like this are a key part of our placemaking work in Hamilton, helping to bring people together, support local businesses and showcase the town as a welcoming and vibrant place to visit. By creating reasons for people to spend time in the town centre, we can help build footfall, strengthen community pride and support the local economy.
Partnership working is central to making these events happen, and we are delighted to have worked alongside HIPY, whose commitment to community engagement helped make the day such a success.
Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, traded or helped deliver the event. Your support continues to help us create positive, engaging experiences in the heart of Hamilton.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the town centre for more events throughout the year.
