Final market event this Saturday:
Over the past 2 weeks we have been hosting our Hamilton Market events right in the heart of the improvement district area in support of footfall, marketing and visitor experience. So far we have been delighted by the public response and have seen a significant increase in visitors on the day. This Saturday we host the final Hamilton Market event which will feature some of our most popular performers, with Abba Dream, Garry King and Samba Ya Bamba returning. We are also supported by performances from the local community with the likes of the wonderful Valerie Brown School of dance returning.
We would like to thank the town centre businesses for getting involved with over 30 stalls taken alongside participation in the fashion show and the efforts made by the Hang On Climbing Centre to host free climbing on Market days. It has been great to see the level of business engagement grow since these events were trialled last year….
We hope to continue and expand on these events starting with the Christmas Light Switch and Christmas Parade, followed by Easter Gala’s and exciting plans for summer 2023 following a yes vote at our renewal ballot. Without your support this Saturday’s event will be the last, therefore, when it comes time to vote please vote yes. More to follow on this!

Taxi Marshall’s:
Hamilton Our Town BID & Pub watch have teamed up in an effort to support the visitor experience and safety through the provision of Taxi Marshalls at the rank at Bourne Street / Keith Street on a Saturday night. The scheme commenced last Saturday, and we will continue the trial over the summer period up until the end of our term in October with a view to continuing the scheme in December dependant on the ballot result. We hope that this project and our work with the local police can help keep visitors safe and support the evening economy businesses in the area.
Fly tipping:
Once again, we have identified issues on Quarry Street, Lamb Street and Townhead Street this week following the weekend. These issues were reported to SLC who have removed the waste from the area.
