B2B Newsletter: January 24th 2023 – Hamilton BID

Hamilton Market goes monthly from March:

Following the growing popularity of the market, operated by ourselves we are planning to bring this to the town monthly starting from the 4th March. Through 2023 we estimate that we will gain enough funding from the market activity to provide BID businesses with a total of 100 free stalls usually priced at £60. This initiative forms part of our 10-point support package detailed on previous communications and on our website.

New market format:

The market will alternate between the ‘Gala day’ on the street format of which we have exciting plans in store for 2023 including our Easter Gala, (April 8th), Pride Event, Mela event and Summer Gala as well as the festive activity… And an indoor market which, this year, will take place in the Regent Centre (currently a trial). We hope to bring this to the New Cross when the refit is completed. The new format will focus on what will be a high-quality indoor market featuring BID stalls alongside vendors from the hugely successful Chatelherault market and some special additions. Entertainment at the indoor markets will be minimal to differentiate this experience versus the Gala Day on street format. We are running this market and all previous vendor restrictions apply, e.g no hot drinks.

What we’re aiming for:

We can provide the existing Chatelherault customer base with an indoor, town centre experience on a Saturday when the country park market is not operating, providing a unique selling point that will draw visitors into our area. In poor weather, market customers are likely to choose an indoor location versus the Country park and with us controlling the vendor mix, we anticipate visitors will shop the area for further products and services, boosting our areas economy. The indoor location also removes the substantial road closure and stewarding costs associated with the outdoor environment making the initiative viable financially. We anticipate that initial visitor numbers will be lower than our on-street events whilst the format builds however, the aim is to provide the town centre a new ongoing footfall draw operated exclusively by Hamilton Our Town. Over the course of 2023 we are planning a total of 13 market / event dates providing ongoing activity on a Saturday in Hamilton.

Market Applications now open:

As a business in the BID area you can access our free stall scheme. Our indoor events can accommodate x5 Free BID stalls and our outdoor events can accommodate x10 Free BID stalls. If interested feel free to fill in the google form via this link. We will then come back to you to confirm your attendance. With 100 free stalls available this year we are confident that we can accommodate everyone based on last years provision.

Let Local:

We are delighted to have launched our very own commercial property listings service via our website and social media. The aim is for Hamilton Our Town to act as a one stop shop for vacant commercial property making it easier for people / businesses looking for premises in the town centre area. This site will be updated monthly and promoted via our facebook page. Let Local – Hamilton BID (hamiltonourtown.co.uk)
