Hamilton Easter Gala Day Brings Thousands into the Town Centre

Hamilton town centre was buzzing with energy as the Hamilton Easter Gala Day delivered a fantastic day of activity, despite challenging weather conditions.

Originally planned as an outdoor celebration, the event was successfully relocated into the Regent Centre – ensuring the day could go ahead and still deliver a vibrant and welcoming experience for visitors of all ages.

The event attracted an estimated 2,000 to 4,000 additional visitors into the town centre across the day, providing a significant boost in footfall.

Visitors enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment, including fantastic performances from Hamilton Rock Choirand the ever-popular Taylor Swift Effect, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.

Alongside the performances, the event featured almost 30 local traders, showcasing a wide range of products and adding to the strong community feel of the day. Families were also able to enjoy free face painting, while Think Circus brought colour, energy and interactive fun that proved a big hit with younger visitors.

Despite the weather, the day was a clear success – demonstrating the strength of the town centre, the importance of community events, and the value of creating reasons for people to visit, stay longer and support local.

Malcolm Thomas-Harley, Hamilton Our Town Manager, said:
“It was fantastic to be able to host the event indoors and ensure the day could still go ahead despite the weather. We’re incredibly grateful to the Regent Centre for their support in making that possible at short notice.

What the day really demonstrated is the resilience and diversity of Hamilton town centre. To see so many people come out and support the event, despite the conditions, shows just how vibrant and community-focused our town centre is.

We’d like to thank everyone who attended, as well as our performers, traders and partners for helping make the day such a success.”

We would also like to thank Drama Kirk for bringing their Easter activity into the event, adding even more to the overall experience.
