Town Centre Footfall on the Rise
Hamilton town centre continues to out-perform expectations, welcoming an additional 55,000 visits year-on-year to date – a +1.2% increase compared with last year (source: Place Informatics).
Key streets have seen especially strong growth:
- Quarry Street: +121,000 visits (+13.78%)
- Cadzow Street: +30,000 visits (+9%)
This increase has been supported by the reopening of Quarry Street and the success of the free 30-minute parking trial, now made permanent thanks to the work of Hamilton Our Town.
Event days have also proven to be a major driver of footfall, with the Summer Gala on 19th July showing a +9.9% uplift, and Pride South Lanarkshire on 2nd August achieving a +8.7% increase in visits across the whole town centre (BID area impact, source: Place Informatics).
These figures highlight the positive impact of investment, placemaking, and events in strengthening Hamilton town centre’s appeal to both visitors and businesses.
