Town centre Masterplan:
As you will be aware, the local authority has now released information regarding the future of our town centre via the Town centre masterplan. The public consultation period will follow, (we will provide the dates and locations when these become available). Businesses are encouraged to engage with the council’s public consultation to understand the details and to ensure that your ideas and views are heard as part of this process.
Ahead of the public consultation, and to support communication, the masterplan executive summary presentation and reports can be accessed via these links: Document.ashx (cmis.uk.com) & https://bit.ly/3wI1eJo Given the scale of the potential changes it is likely there will be several questions related to the project which should be addressed as part of the upcoming consultation ran by the council. To help support informal communication we have set up a short feedback form where businesses can note comments to ourselves regarding the plans. https://forms.gle/SvMtTdBGKdWmqjkXA (This is not part of the formal consultation).
Quarry Street opening:
As per previous updates, we are requesting feedback regarding the impact of the 30 min parking trial. This will help inform and shape any next steps regarding the trial. Here’s the feedback form https://forms.gle/AUuU4RCuBKMbSJ6aA.
Spring Festival – First event:
We were delighted by the response to our 1st event date of the year last Saturday with 2,198 visitors’ week on week +40.1% coming into town for the market and activities. The day also introduced a new treasure trail which seen almost 90 entries to the trail on the day, supporting the 6 businesses that asked to participate with significant additional footfall alongside bringing the bandstand area to life with our Pirates and performances by Samba Ya Bamba.
Our next event is a 2-hour pop up trail starting and the Bandstand with an Alice in wonderland theme from 12-2pm on the 16th March. This is followed by the annual Hamilton Easter Gala day on the 30th March on Quarry Street. As a reminder Quarry Street will be closed on the 30th March for the Gala day.
Pride SL24:
We’re delighted that Pride events will return to Hamilton on the 26th & 27th July following our launch of activities in 2023. This year Hamilton Our Town whilst not running the events directly will be supporting and are excited to be part of the day with Hamilton Pride Market on Quarry Street. Please get in touch if anyone is interested in a stall for this event. info@hamiltonbid.org
