Free 30min parking trial proceeding 1st February:
Plans to open Quarry Street and Cadzow Street to traffic and the provision of free 30-minute parking in marked zones, is proceeding as planned, according to our source at South Lanarkshire Council.
The trial, initiated by Hamilton Our Town and implemented by SLC aims to provide an economic boost for the businesses, alongside an improved visitor experience within the BID area. Over the 18-month trial period, we will be monitoring footfall alongside engaging with the business community to measure its impact, ahead of permanent changes or further proposals.
As a reminder, the trial enables free 30-minute parking on Quarry Street (former pedestrianised zone), Cadzow Street and Townhead Street within marked areas, In the case of Cadzow Street and Townhead Street, the existing bays are the areas where parking is permitted, (between Leechlee Road and Townhead Street). Signage on Quarry Street is being set up currently indicating the zone. Delivery vehicles can still access the area but must use the parking zones. Lastly, Keith Street access will be for public transport vehicles only.
Updates will be provided here with any changes, challenges or good news stories related to the trial.
